Summer Memories in Progress: Texas

The hubs and I have been super busy trying to make sure that Babycakes has an amazing summer.  Since he works as an Ag. teacher, he has to spend a week each summer In Blacksburg with his FFA students as they compete in various contests with other students from around the state.  In the past I have enjoyed a little "me" time while he was gone.  Now that I have the little one things can be a little lot more complicated.  So instead of hanging around here waiting for Daddy to get back, Babycakes and I decided we would go on an adventure.
I packed our bags and booked our flight so we could head to Texas to visit Granddaddy Bill and Grandma Gretchen.  It is the first time I have ever traveled with a small person for whom I am responsible.  She did pretty well.  The most difficult part was having to get her bottle out before we taxied out to the runway and not letting her have it until we took off.
I wasn't able to get any picture from the flight because the flight crew on the airline that I flew was less than helpful. :-( But we made it there safely and that's what is important.
Our first day in Galveston we went to Moody Gardens for some sight seeing.  They have some amazing exhibits there and I recommend it to anyone who visits the Galveston area.  We chose the aquarium and the rain forest for our visit that day.  Babycakes loved the aquarium!  The seals were a favorite for her!

 Checking out the seals...
Here she is with her Granddaddy.  I'm so glad I was able to capture this sweet moment on camera.
Another day, we went to the Mosquito Cafe for lunch.  A great local restaurant with delicious food!
The night before we left Texas to return home, we went to the beach one more time.  I was thrilled that she kept her little sunhat on!  Not only does it protect her from the sun, but she looks so darn cute in it!
That little jar is for the sand I collected for her.  Each beach trip we take I will collect some sand and shells for her and label it with the date and location of the trip.  When she's older she'll have a little souvenir of all of her fabulous beach vacations.
My favorite picture EVER!

I hope everyone is having a fabulous summer and creating lots of memories!
Nena
