Winter Coat Update

With fall in the air I thought I would do a quick post on the SUPER cute coat I got for Babycakes.

A few weeks ago I stopped at a yard sale on my way home from the Farmer's Market and found a cute little red coat for $1!!!

While cute, I felt it needed a little "something" for my sweet girl.  It really looked like a boy coat but for $1 I really couldn't pass it up!  Enter the fun flower buttons...

As you can see from the picture they were $.78 at Wal-Mart.  I looked at a fabric store (I really wanted ladybug buttons) but couldn't find what I wanted (read - could afford).  I found some really nice bamboo buttons, but to buy enough for the coat it would have been $10!  I only paid $1 for the coat!  So I settled on the Wal-Mart buttons.  I wasn't sure how I would feel about it but I'm pretty pleased with how it turned out.  Take a look...
I think the model is beautiful!  I decided if we are blessed with another little one down the road that I can always change the buttons if needed.

Let's recap:
Coat $1.00
Buttons: 2 packs @ $.78
Grand Total: $2.56 for a "new" winter coat.

What do you think?

Come On Friday!

Whew!  What a week it has been!  Babycakes has been sick all week.  She started on Saturday with a runny nose and by Monday it was a full blown ear infection (along with goopy eyes, stuffy nose, and chest congestion).  She has been miserable all week.  So she is supposed to go back to the doctor today.  Poor thing looks so pitiful. :-(
In addition to this rotten illness, she fell this week at her Grandma's house and busted her upper lip on a pickle crock.  Fortunately she didn't require stitches, but she is quite a sight!
I am back to classes in an effort to complete the requirements necessary before I begin my dissertation.  I hope to begin that process in January so I can get the blasted thing finished and we can wok on a little brother or sister for Babycakes before I hit menopause! ;-)
Anyway, I am loving the invention of the crock-pot and food processor these days.  Makes my life so much easier!  Now that Pinterest is an app on my Smartphone I have been pinning crockpot recipies like a wild woman.
I hope everyone is healthy and had a great week.  I will try and get some pictures up this weekend.
Hope everyone had a great week!

Summer Memories

I hate that it had been so long between posts.  I really will try and do a better job of blogging on a more consistent basis.  With school back in session I seem to have a little more consistency in my days so hopefully that will help.
I believe in my last post I promised some pictures from our summer.  Well, here are a few to get started...

This was my breakfast date every morning this summer.  What a wonderful way to start the day!

Babycakes even colored with Daddy a little bit this summer (before the crayons went into her mouth).  We'll try again in a couple of months!

On Thursday mornings we went to our local public library for their Books and Babies Program.  If you have little ones the public library is a GREAT way to spend some time with your kids.  Many of them have programs geared toward specific age groups.

It was at the Books and Babies program that I learned about a Mommy and Me swim class at the local public pool.  It was a fantastic way to get Babycakes used to the water.  I'm sure you are wondering why Mommy isn't in these pictures.  That's because these pictures were taken not long after I had my appendix out. :-(  So Daddy had to take over for swim class.
More pictures to follow.  After being back at school for a week with the kids I am wiped out and in need of some rest!  I'll try and get more pictures posted before the end of the weekend!
